Skip Berry

Skip Berry | Associate Professor, CIS & Program Lead

Professor Skip Berry is one of Riverside City College's most scholastically and curriculum influential professors of all time. He is Cyber Defense Program Lead and the Director of the Riverside City College Center for Cyber Security. He is an advanced level instructor of CISCO CCNA Security, Introduction to Cisco Networks, and Routing and Switching Essentials. Professor Berry is truly passionate about his instruction and always takes his teaching to new heights, developing new, innovative courses to expand student learning. He is the program lead for Information Security and Cyber Defense. He ceaselessly dedicates his time to educational philanthropy, devoting his time and energy into academic community programs for students of all ages (including junior high and high school).   Skip Berry is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) with ISC² since 2010. He also holds his certification as a Certified Ethical Hacker, Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator, as well as his certification as a VMware Certified Associate in Cloud Technologies and VMware Certified Associate in Data Center Virtualization. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems from the California Baptist University, and a Master of Science in Information Security and Assurance from Western Governors University.

Skip Berry

Steve Corbin | Assistant Professor, CIS

Steve Corbin – Steve Corbin has over 20 years of IT management and support experience. He worked at DirecTV in IT for over 15 years, holding progressively different roles. During his tenure, he successfully installed Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange for over 15,000 users. Additionally, he managed DirecTV.com and the IT infrastructure for call centers in the US and around the world. Steve possesses a wide range of computer forensics experience.

He holds an MBA in Operations Research from CSULB and has earned multiple IT certifications. His current certifications include CompTIA's A+ and Security+, Cisco's CCNA, Microsoft's MCSE, ITIL, PMP, AWS Certified Solution Architect-Associate, as well as a credential in Career Technical Education. He is also a Certified Cisco CCAI and a Microsoft Instructor (MCT). Over the past 20 years, he has taught a wide variety of classes as an adjunct professor at Cerritos College, Coastline Community College, SMC, Southern California Regional Occupational Center (SoCal ROC), and El Camino College.

Brandon Oertel

Brandon Oertel | Associate Faculty, CIS

Brandon Oertel has a passion for teaching people of all ages about how Cybersecurity, Networking, and IT skills can transform lives and impact business outcomes across the world. As an Adjunct Professor at Riverside City College, his main focus has been helping students. 

Mark Smith

Mark Smith | Associate Faculty, CIS

Instructor Mark Smith has been an adjunct Professor of CIS at the Riverside City College since 2019. In addition to teaching, Mark also owns and operates an IT side business since 1997. He dedicates his time and energy into health-felt IT learning for students of all ages, and his involvement and passion for improving students’ academic growth. “I started computing with my Commodore 64 when I was 12, where I ran a nighttime BBS and was an early adopter of Linux in 1998 with Mandrake Linux.”   Mark currently hold a Master’s in Instructional Technology from CSUSB, have three teaching credentials, various CompTIA certifications, and brings over 20 years of teaching experience. “I am proud to be an adjunct faculty at the best CIS program in the Inland Empire here at RCC.”

Darrelle "Dee" Thompson | Associate Faculty, CIS

Instructor Darrelle “Dee” Thompson has worked in the Business and Information Technology Department at the Riverside City College since 2001. She has taught various courses in technology and believes that lifelong learning is the key to success in the Technology Industry. Mrs. Thompson enjoys teaching both online and face-to-face and has worked with community ventures in educating the public in basic computer skills.   Instructor Thompson has earned her MOS Master Certifications in Microsoft Word and Excel and is also a Cisco Networking Academy IT Essentials Certified Instructor. Mrs. Thompson holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Information Systems from the University of Phoenix and a Master of Information Technology from American InterContinental University.
